Texas Knife and Tomahawk Competition
This year marks the 24th annual Texas State Knife & Tomahawk Championship!
In Mountain Man-style throwing competitions, knives and tomahawks are thrown at log rounds, bearing playing cards and other “items” to test aiming ability and skills instead of rings on conventional targets. Each competition consists of various challenges over a 2-day period.
Throwing distances for Knife are 1-spin and 2-spin only. Tomahawk throwing distances are 1-spin, 1½ spin, and 2-spin. Distance will be marked from the target face to 10 feet only. (The foul line) It is up to each thrower to know their personal distance from the foul line to their throwing distances. The only tool of measurement that is allowed is your feet. No rulers, strings, or tape measures will be permitted. (This rule may be waived for the physically impaired/disabled.)

Saturday and Sunday – The throwers meeting and discussion on game rules for each day will start at 8:30 AM.
If you would like to practice on the competition range, you can arrive at 8 AM.
Throwing will begin at 9 AM.
Group photo will be taken Saturday morning before throwing begins.
Spaghetti dinner Saturday evening for anyone who would like to join at no extra cost, 7pm.

Youth $25 / Amateur $45 / Pro $65
Anyone who dresses up in primitive or pre 1840’s clothing for the ENTIRE weekend will receive a free Texas State Championship 2023 t-shirt.
Pro throwers that DO NOT dress in primitive or pre 1840’s clothes for the throw, will not be eligible for a bladed table prize, only their cash prize if they place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd and a non bladed prize. Amateurs who DO NOT dress in primitive style clothing will be eligible for non bladed prizes only.
I have a few things of all sizes to loan out to ladies if you would like to dress up. Please feel free to reach out, I have different size skirts and shirts. Limited camping spots available at the event, please RSVP. Bastrop State Park is only 5 minutes from the event and beautiful this time of year.
